CECA, a subsidiary of the ARKEMA Group, announces that it has successfully completed the pre-registration phase of all its chemical substances with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
In accordance with the REACH regulation, 130 chemical substances are concerned and cover all CECA product lines:
· Molecular Sieves (synthetic zeolites) and related Adsorbents,
· Activated Carbon,
· Filter Aid and Mineral Fillers,
· Bitumen Additives
· Oilfield Additives,
· Specialty Surfactants,
· FEBEX Phosphorus Specialties.
CECA, a subsidiary of the ARKEMA Group, has endorsed the objectives of Reach* from the very beginning, in the firm belief that a continuous improvement in our knowledge of substances and their safe use provides an opportunity to fulfil the legitimate expectations of society at large in terms of protection of health and the environment, and to boost the public's confidence in the chemical industry.
The REACH compliance teams are now working on the second stage of the implementation of the REACH regulation, i.e. the setting-up of consortia, followed by a compilation of the products' uses in order to comply with the first cut-off date of 2010.
*Find out more about REACH: The aim of the Reach (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals) project is to establish, over an eleven year period, a system for the registration of the 30,000 or so chemical substances manufactured in or imported into the European Union in quantities of at least one tonne per year. A registration dossier must be prepared for each of these substances based on the OSOR (One Substance, One Registration) principle, and filed with the European Chemicals Agency, which is charged with checking and assessing the dossiers with the help of Member States, as well as with issuing the authorisations. The authorisation procedure concerns in particular those substances said to be "of very high concern".
