Organo Clay.

For this application, CECA offers one of the widest ranges of cationic surfactants on the market under the tradenames Noram® and Noramium®.

Clays are mineral fillers which occur naturally as hydrophilic flakes. In order to make them compatible with organic media like paints, polymers, inks, greases, oil-based drilling muds, etc., it is highly advisable to react them with quaternary ammonium salts, or simply with alkyl-amines in acid medium.

Organophilic clays :

Clays then become organophilic by a dry or wet process, as the case may be, and so either become excellent rheological additives in liquid media, or enable excellent dispersion in molten or liquid polymers.

These consist of mono-alkyl or di-alkyl type C12 to C20 chains quaternised with methyl chloride, benzyl chloride or other highly specific quaternising agents chosen on the basis of the polarity of the final medium.

CECA makes its comprehensive know-how readily available to its customers: from laboratory tests on clay-cationic surfactant reactions, and application tests in organic media, to the custom-manufacture of products whose quality is widely acknowledged by every player in the market.

Looking for compatibilising agents for mineral fillers ? Then look no further and try out CECA’s cationic surfactants !
