Antifouling marine paints typically contain metal compounds i.e. tin or copper for bacteriostatic purpose. SILIPORITE® Molecular Sieve should be added to the formulation in order to ensure its stability during storage. In fact, water may react with these metals to form hydrogen gas.
This formation of hydrogen gas in containers of paints increases pressure, which can result in the container bulging or even bursting.
