Effective june 1st 2011, CECA will apply an ’energy surchage’ to all its diatomaceous earths and perlite customers.
As a consequence of continuous hikes in the price of petrol, CECA is facing a large increase in its production costs. Investment programmes for saving energy and improving productivity have been carried out for several years, but these cannot absorb any additional hike which has a major impact on our production processes for manufacturing diatomaceous and perlite based earths, using calcination and drying techniques.
Therefore, CECA has no other option than to invoice an ‘energy surcharge’ on all shipments effective June 1st 2011, to all its diatomaceous and perlite based earths customers.
The amount of this ‘energy surcharge’ will be invoiced as a specific item, and will be reviewed monthly on the basis of the variations of published indexes relevant to our cost variations. This will be calculated for month ‘m’, on the basis of the index value for month (m-2), for instance: the ‘energy surcharge’ for the June shipments will be based on the value of the April index.

For all shipments made by CECA in June 2011, the amount of ‘energy surcharge’ will be €18 per metric ton for Saint-Bauzile (France) , Foggia (Italy) et Strood (UK) production sites, using natural gas.
