Role of Adhesion Agents

The chief roles of adhesion agents

Whichever method is used, adhesion agents have to alter the surface condition of the aggregate, and keep it water-repellent for as long as possible.

They work on 2 principles:

  •  Active adhesiveness: a binder’s ability to displace water from the aggregate surface and take its place.
  • Passive adhesiveness: a binder’s strength to remain fixed to the aggregate surface in the presence of water.
